Kela Tikki

Delicious Kela Tikki is a wonderful snack and also an appetizer.

Raw green banana is very good for health but I always disliked it and avoided it. I never brought raw green bananas home as it is not my favourite food. Recently when I went to market with my sister she saw these raw bananas and purchased it thinking it is a ripe one. Lol. After bringing home she tried peeling it and then realized it is the raw bananas. Now she came to me and told me what happened I just laughed and then immediately I got this idea of making this tikkis out of the raw green bananas. Instantly I started preparing these Tikkis and I must say that just because of these tikkis I started liking raw green bananas. I am sure all of you too want to try this out so just scroll down and see the complete recipe of Kela Tikki.

Serves 4 People

Ingredients

Ingredients required for making Kela Tikki

3 raw Bananas (Kela)
2 Potatoes
1 tbsp Cumin seeds
1 tbsp Coriander seeds
2 Dried Red Chilies
2 tbsp Gram Flour (besan)
Half tsp Black Pepper Powder
2 tbsp Tamarind Juice
4 tbsp Rice Flour
Oil for frying
Salt to taste

Instructions

See here how to prepare for making Kela Tikki

First take the coriander seeds, cumin seeds and dried red chilies and roast them.

Now grind the roasted seeds (coriander and cumin) and the dried red chilies together.

Take the raw bananas and keep it ready for pressure cooking.

Pressure cook the raw green bananas along with the potatoes till they are soft and tender. After boiling it, let it cool down.

Once cooled, peel the potatoes and the raw bananas.

Now add the 2 tbsp gram flour.

Add the roasted and grinded spices that we have prepared earlier (coriander, cumin, dried red chilies). I simply love the flavor of roasted spices.

Now add the black pepper powder.

Add sufficient salt to the recipe.

Now mash everything together nicely and make it into soft dough.

Spread the dough and add the tamarind juice and then again mash it properly.

Now make round shape tikkis with the dough and keep it ready for frying.

Heat the cooking oil in a frying pan or kadhai.

Keep the rice flour ready as we are going to coat the banana tikkis with it.

Once the oil is hot, place the raw banana tikkis into the rice flour and coat it properly with the rice flour.

Now fry the raw banana tikkis on both sides into the hot oil.

Once the tikkis are fried well remove them from the oil and place it in a separate plate or a bowl.

Our toothsome kela tikkis are now ready to relish. Serve it hot with tomato ketchup or your favorite sauce.
