Potato Wrap Recipe

This recipe was something that was made instant without any planning. It was 1stof January and it was my birthday so my family had planned a surprise birthday party. I was shocked when the big cake arrived which my parents have ordered for me. It was very beautiful but with that nothing else had come. My mom asked me if any other food parcel came and I said “no”. My mom called up the cake shop as she ordered some snacks for the party in the evening and the shop people have said that they got the order only for the cake. Mom did not know what to do as we were expecting guest. I checked my kitchen and found out the ingredients and started to make something which I myself did not know. My mom saw me and she too started helping me and this is what it turned out to be. Our entire guest, mostly the children loved it and demanded for more.  Look below to make this wonderful recipe of Potato Wrap

How to cook Potato Wraps

First we will wash the potatoes with the peel thoroughly and just cut it from the middle to get two equal halves.

Now put the half potatoes into the pressure cooker and add sufficient water, pressure cook these potatoes for two whistles or till they are cooked properly.

Let’s do something till the potatoes are getting cooked, we will knead a soft dough with the all purpose flour and water.

After the dough is kneaded properly, keep it in covered in a plate, we will use this later.

Check the potatoes to see if they are cooked, once cooked remove it from the pressure cooker and put it under the running tap water so that it cools down.

Dry the potatoes and peel the potatoes now, since it is cooked, the peel will come out easily.

Now let’s take the onion and finely chop them and then finely chop the fresh coriander leaves. I am in love with the aroma of the fresh coriander leaves.

Take the boiled and peeled potatoes now and mash them.

Add the chopped onion, chopped coriander leaves, salt and black pepper powder as per your taste and mash everything together. All the ingredients should blend properly.

Now take the dough which we have prepared sometime back and make four big balls out of it. These dough balls should be big enough.

Take one dough ball and roll it with the rolling pin. The dough should be rolled in a circle shape and it should be quite thick.

We are now going to add the potato stuffing, take the potato mixture and spread it evenly on the dough leaving the sides little empty.

Apply little water on the sides of the rolled dough exactly where we have not put the potato stuffing with the help of a thin brush or finger.  This will help us to seal the wrap so that our potato stuffing does not move out.

Now take one side of the wrap and start rolling it like how we roll to make a roll.

The other side of the roll should be sealed completely. It should look like a potato roll with both the edges folded and sealed completely.

The roll should be rolled in such a way that we cannot see the stuffing inside.

Now take the rolling pin and very lightly roll again on the roll just to make it a little flat. Be careful while doing this as the stuffing might come out. This will help all the layer of the wrap to form properly and also hold the potato mixture in between the rolled dough.

Let us shape the wrap now, take a very sharp knife and cut the roll into slices. The slices should be half inch or more but not less than that. You can now see the layers of the potato mixture and maida dough. It looks so beautiful.

It is time to cook them so heat some oil in a deep pan.

Slowly fry these wraps first in a low flame and then high flame so that it becomes crispy.

Once it is fried well take it out in a kitchen tissue paper so that the extra oil is soaked out.

Our mouth watering Potato Wraps are now ready to serve with tomato or chilli sauce.
