How to make Chingri Macher Malai Curry
To make this delicious recipe we need big prawns.
Clean the prawns properly and remove its head too.
Now we will add a pinch of turmeric powder.
After adding the turmeric powder we are going to add little salt, we are adding little salt because we are going to add some more salt to the gravy later. Now mix it properly and keep it aside.
We will now take the coconut and break it into two.
Now we are going to churn the coconuts, you can churn the coconuts on top of a plate or even a newspaper and then collect the entire churned coconut into a bowl.
Now we will add ½ cup luke warm water to the churned coconuts to take out its juice.
Strain the coconuts now and collect the juice in a separate bowl and keep it aside. The remaining coconut is not required further.
Now we are going to start cooking this flavoursome recipe. So we will heat oil in a deep bottom vessel, I have used mustard oil to prepare this recipe as it will enhance the taste of this prawn dish.
Fry the marinated prawns now on high flame for few minutes.
Once the prawns are fried remove it from the oil and keep it aside in a separate bowl.
Just take a handful of the sliced onions and fry it in the oil, keep the remaining sliced onions aside.
Once the onions are fried and becomes pinkish in color, remove it from the oil and keep it aside, we will need this fried onions later again.
Now add the remaining sliced onion into the hot oil and sauté it for some time.
We are now going to add the ginger paste, garlic paste, cumin powder, coriander powder.
Now we will add turmeric powder to the dish.
It is time to add the red chili powder and sauté everything.
After sauting for some time and the raw smell of the masala goes, we will add the chopped tomatoes and cook till the tomatoes get dissolved completely.
Reduce the flame now and add the fried prawns and stir it properly.
Do you remember that we have kept the coconut milk aside, so now it is time to add the coconut milk into the recipe. Let it boil for some time.
Now add the garam masala powder.
Let the malai curry simmer for few minutes till the oil starts leaving the pan.
I know the aroma of this delightful Chingri Macher Malai Curry is making you hungry, no problem you can taste the same now because the dish is now ready. You can now transfer it to a serving bowl and garnish it with the fried onions that were prepared earlier and enjoy.
